Re: Good work boots

Browninig Kangaroo Featherweights are by far my favorite boots. Waterproof and insulated, but no steel toe.

I've had a pair of Wolverines, steel toe(we HAVE to), that I NOW love, but took like 2 mos. to break in! damn steel was cutting up toes, but then they broke in :) Also, my next pair this year will be Redwings, top of the line and free to me :)

Re: Good work boots

i like the "timberland pro series".

they ahve a safety toe (not steel) so they are still light.

ill tell you what i did: i went to 3 different stores trying on boots.

i would find a pair that i liked and start from there----dont look at the price..........a good pair of boots may set you back a little but its worth not having back trouble.

after i found what i like i would put one kind of boot on one foot and another on the other----then walk around and do all the things you would normally do at work -then decide which is the most comfortable and switch to a different boot on the least comfortable foot.

repeat as necessary .................i would walk around for 5-10 min in each boot.

it took a while (1-2 hrs in each store) but i got a good pair of boots for $100.............i was going to spend $300 at most and was really happy i found a good waterproof, light, durable, comfortable, safety toe, cheap boot............i would rather had a black pair----doesnt come in black that im aware of-------but when you need a good work boot..........your job isnt likely to demand a fashion show......so i settled for comfort over color.

comfort is the key!

Red wings have them for 20 years, and you can get them resoled.

If you work in water than smith. Bottom is rubber.

i have a pair of red wing and a pair of rocky the red wings took forever to break in and the rocky's were comfortable out of the box. we get into some nasty stuff at work and the red wings hold up the best of all I have tried.

If you have to have safety boots, Red Wings are about as good as you can get, but for tennis shoe comfort and light weight I will still take the Brownings.

Re: Good work boots

I got a pair of timberland pro boots for work. I am not always in the field, so I would wear tennis shoes to the office then put on the boots when I needed. These boots are so comfortable I just wear them all the time now. Only down side here is they are a little expensive for boots that are going to get torn up.

When only the best will do -- Redwings
Mine right now are actually Carhartt, they're not bad but would wear out in a year of hard work
My next pair will be Danner, very comfortable but more of a field boot than a work boot.

Red Wings all the way. I have a pair that has seen a LOT of miles. Dad had them for 15 or more years before passing them down to me. The soles are really beyond worn out, but I still much prefer these to my newer Justins. You don't beat these Red Wings.

I wear Wolverines also. They ARE A TOTAL PAIN, unitl they get broken in and then they are GREAT! I drive a big truck wearing them, with no problems.

Re: Good work boots

I've had a pair of Wolverines for about 8 years. They have the "squishy" version of the Vibram sole that I like. That's good for being on your feet all day. I think the trick is to try on as many different boots as you can. I tried 4 or 5 different Wolverine models and they all felt hard except the ones I bought. If I'd stopped with the first pair I'd probably assume all of their boots were uncomfortable. This is most likely true with any brand. I will agree with others that RedWing steel toe boots have some pretty (relatively) comfortable steel toe models. The lightest boots I've ever owned were those black High-Tech (Magnum) police/SWAT style combat boots. The sole was a little hard but they were light and offered good ankle support.

Re: Good work boots

What do you do will point out the boot you should use. IL go against the grain and say Red Wings don't hold up well at all. I wore the toes out in under 6 months and the boot fell apart. Then told no warranty due to the fact im a larger person and work boots should be replaced every 6months to a year. The boot that ive found hold up well for me is a welders boot. All the others just fall apart. Plus i can stand and walk in them all day long. Any soft sole boot usually wears out fast if you are on your feet.

Just my nickels worth
