Goodman HVAC

Has anyone had any experience with Goodman ACs or heat pumps? They are priced right and carry a 10 year warranty (copeland scroll compressor)

I have personally put in 2 goodman air conditioners for friends. I think they are a fine unit. The key to any A/C, heat pump, Furnace or whatever, is the installation. If done properly and the unit is kept clean it should last for many years.

The only installation of a Goodman unit was about18 years ago. It was a 5 ton-3 phase commercial unit. Price was reasonable and the unit was kept simple in its technology. Only problem I had was the contactor which is a common part to go bad.<br /><br />Goodman units also are made under some other brand names. Can't remember who actually makes the units. <br /><br />The schroll compressor is about the best compressor I feel that is on the market. They are more economical to operate and not near as noisey as the regular hemetic type.<br /><br />D Grass is right on about the care and maintenance. Keep your condenser coil clean, filters changed, and occassionally pull the blower out to clean the squirrel cage, the unit will last a long time. Good Luck

Thanks guys for your input I used to be an HVAC and commercial refrigeration contractor years ago. Back then I always look for simple and well proven engineering and it paid off in reliability and customer satisfaction. I am thinking of getting my son-in-law started in a part time business and the best way to find out about a product is to ask the ones with experience. My brother works for a HVAC contractor supply house on N.E. Georgia. Tappan is their major line. They make a nice unit for the price. I wish I could justify replacing my noisy (but operative) 6 yr old Goodman with one. My unit doesn't have the scroll compressor.
