Google searches!

Seems that more and more Google searches bring up trash. Several times this morning I have looked things up, only to find links that have absolutely nothing to do with the objects I was looking for.

They are links that take you to other searches and have zero information about the subject you were looking for. These are not isolated incidences but often pages of these types of links. One such link even took me to an antivirus scan that I know would have filled my computer with bad things had I clicked on it.

If you want to see what I mean, google "Z15GW2B7-K"

There ought to be a law!!!

Re: Google searches!

Well This is a double edge sword..... the anti-virus programs are working overtime now and many things are classified as a virus.

I found your micro switch for about $4 ....... you have to be creative with google.......

I think it is a sign of the times.

Re: Google searches!

I've had the same problem for the last couple of months. If you look at the site your going to, you'll see it says redirect and/or other similar things as it switches you from one site to another and frequently you can't get back to where you were by just clicking on the back button. In the last few days it went back to normal, but for a while I couldn't find anything I was looking for.

Re: Google searches!

I'll clarify my experience here. When the search page comes up, the listings contain some part or all of the subject that I was searching. It is that these various sites have titled their lines to make you think they have what you are looking for. Here is an example;

Z15GW2B7K by Omron - Buy or Repair at PLCCenter Buy New or Surplus Omron Z15GW2B7K or Z-15GW2-B7-K ( SWITCH BASIC HINGE ROLLER LEVER 15A ) parts. PLCCenter also repairs Omron parts.
www.paygamesonline.com - 71k

Now www.paygames online have absolutely nothing related to the description at the top of the site description. There are page after page of these kinds of responses to my google inquiry for " Z15GW2B7K"

Here is another subject line off the google search page;

OMRON ELECTRONICS Z-15GW2-B7-K is in stock! | Buy Z15GW2B7K. ... Buy Z15GW2B7K. Your Shopping Cart is currently empty. Cust. Service Chat: ...
www.freescan.antivirus.com/z15gw2b7-k.html - 29k - Cached - Similar pages

..and this kind of thing has been duplicated in several other searches that I have done today.

It's not like my system has been hijacked and redirected while trying to open that website. These are simply the fake listings that are being brought up on a search. They have been designed that way, or they are simply constructed on the spot when you google a given topic.

You're infected. The first full page I get from Google using your search criteria look legit:
onlinecomponents.com
catalog.omronparts.com
octoparts.com
rselectronics.com
nowcomponents.com
northchip.com
ics.usbid.com
forums.iboats.com
etc.

Hmmm, I'll run another slate of bad guy finders. I just did run malwarebytes, and adaware, but nothing significant showed up.

Re: Google searches!

I just went through that last night. Had to get my service provider to clean it.
It took over internet explorer and told me i had to download its program to get rid of the virus.

My provider put this Fire Fox on my comp as a back up. But i am starting to like it better.

I also had the anti virus pages come up and ran several programs that did nothing, it only went away when our company updated to the latest versions this week.

Re: Google searches!

I just ran TrendMicro. It found JAVA_BYTEVER.AR and AS. Don't know how that will relate to my google searches as they advised that I run it a second time. I'm doing that now.

In the past I have found that you need to run a battery of scans. One won't find anything and another might.

I just didn't understand that the symptoms were due to infection. I thought it was a search engine function.

I'll post when it is all done.

Yeah, I think you have something on your system, virus, malware. When I was posting about that switch I googled it to make sure it was a valid P/N, every site I went to was legitimate. Looked at about 10-15 sites trying to find a pic of the switch.

I've just run a variety of scans but my google search results are still the same. Not sure where to go from here!

Re: Google searches!

I have found that some of this malware has the ability to disable whatever you may be using to clean your computer.
I ran Malwarebytes a couple of days ago and it found nothing after I had been attacked by the newest version of antivirus XP 2008 or whatever it was.
I downloaded a new copy of Malwarebytes and installed it and it found 19 instances of malware, many were fake alerts left by my attacker and what appeared to be programs to disable my other scanners.
If it is not a problem to download a fresh copy of MalwareBytes and install it it might be worthwhile.I can never seem to upgrade my virus definitions with it unless I buy it probably but it is a great program and this is one workaround.Just reinstalling the copy you already have may also work.Ron G

Any different instructions if I am using IE Explorer?

Also, in CCleaner, are there any of the items in the ADVANCED section that I should check before running it?

I did download the latest version of CCleaner, I did run it without anything checked in the ADVANCED section and it did not seem to change anything in the google search for 'Z15GW2B7-K'. Here are copies of the first five results. Note the websites have nothing to do with the my search subject even though they claim to have info for that subject.

Re: Google searches!

I guess I don't know what a 'Z15GW2B7-K' is.

All the search results are for places that sell a switch with that part number.

What am I missing?

I don't think you are missing anything. 'Z15GW2B7-K' is the part number for a possible replacement shift interupt switch for the NLA Mercruiser 1 drive switch.

If you look at my posting above, you will see that the first five results of my google search do not look like yours. Look at the websites at the bottom of the groups.

The first one, freescan.antivirus.com, is undoubtedly a malware site. If you click to open it the first thing you get is a message that your computer is infected. The others are nonsense that are just trying to get traffic. In spite of the decscriptions, none of them have anything to do with the switch. That was only the first five, there are pages of responses like that. Sandwiched in, there might be a legitimate link.

Re: Google searches!

Make sure you are searching from www.google.com and not from a google entry box on your home page or something of the like. They are different. A google box embedded in a page is sponsored and will bring up a search of paid sponsors first before the real results. I have never used the google task bar but would not trust it either. Just go to the legitimate google site.
