GoPro Hero 2 - Gotta rethink this

After watching a number of the Underwater videos taken with the GoPro cameras I was all jacked up about getting one.

I'm not sure what happened between yesterday and today but I woke up all set to go to Best Buy and get everything I wanted. And then I stopped.. Cold in my tracks. For the life of me I can't explain the feeling that came over me and said don't do it. I'm no purist by any means, I have down riggers, sidescan and structure scan sonar, autopilot, cruise control, top of the line gear, etc. What is it about a undewater camera that just seems wrong? I can't explain it.

Hmmmmm. You look like a contender, JL, but you cannot be the winner (dies with the most toys) without a GoPro Hero2.;)

I like that last one.

JB... I agree and I solved my toy dilema. I needed to go to Outdoor Pro Shop to get another tackle box. I picked up a Plano 7771 and was talking about the Steelies up at Lake Sonoma. Well one thing led to another and somehow I got over to the reel counter and my eyes got stuck on a Shimano Calcutta 400B. Nice reel and not much bigger than the 300's that I've been using. It does have a typical 4-0 reels line capacity but it's a casting reel as well so instead of the GoPro, I have a new reel. Problem solved for now. Humm I wonder what G-Loomis has that'll match up well with this reel. Darn, now I have to go back tomorrow. LOL..

JB did you move this thread? Did you not know that these GoPro's are being used extensively in fresh water fishing? I have no interest in talking about this subject in a Non-Boating Technical Thread. If putting one of these on your down rigger and watching a lure isn't about fishing then I don't know what is.
