Hey guys! I'm back! (Another post in good news section to follow). I got a STEAL on a 66 Chevy truck(I started out w/ a 64 when I was 16!!! LOL )283, 2bbl, 2 speed powerglide(God that brings me back)that runs GREAT! Just replacing cap, rotor(points & plugs OK for now - BUDGET)and wires. I messed up two wires while cleaning, where does each wire from each plug go on CAP? I beleive(and I may be wrong??)that facing engine, from radiator towards windshield, 1, 3, 5, 7 on passenger side and 2,4,6,8 on driver side? Are caps still numbered? This is a great truck for my side jobs! Thanks guys!

1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 going clockwise. #1 "should" point towards #1 cylinder. You are just oppisite on the Cyl. order on the banks, #1 is on the drivers side. I would highly advise getting a HEI from a wrecking yard before spending the money on the points setup. One wire hookup. Parts are more available too. Should spend around $30-35 at a wrecking yard for one, get wires and all while you're there. Clip the wire from the donor vehicle also. Anything pre 81 is great. 81 up has some computor controll bs but will still work. Congrats and good to see you back.

THANKS you guys! has been SO long since I had one like this, schematics were great as well as advice, found out tho w/ mechaninc friend/neighbor of mine , that timing/dist. setting is off, had to reroute wires like they were, runs awesome! Will do HEI when I can afford a bit more. Cap, rotor, plugs and points were in super shape, so why "fix" now I figure :)
Thanks again you guys, your'e all so helpful, glad I'm back!!

That is my favorite body style. I've owned a '62 shortbox and a '65 longbox.
Those p-glides aren't bad, but if you bolt a TH 350 up to that 283, it will get up to speed a LOT quicker and easier.
Post some pics!
