I'm Happy all is well, it was very nice of you to help other boaters in need. good karma is a great thing. It will be returned to you and your family! I towed a sail boat 3 weeks ago, when a popcorn thunderstorm blew-up and wind came raging out of the east from it's downdraft. Misty (first mate) and I spotted a sail boat with one aboard waving us down. He was not able to deploy sail due to conditions, and his engine wouldn't start. We helped tow him 2 miles to his mooring, and to safety. I will never leave anyone I notice stranded on the water.

I live 1/2 a mile to 5 different boat ramps and when a bad storm front blows thru I'll go drive around in my pick up and see if anybody is out or needing help- I have seen several boats swamped or beached. Alot just pull into a protected cove and ride it out

I believe in what goes around, comes back around(karma).

most people are good people and will do the right thing and get wet to help out. OP is one.

July 3rd we rode out a squall so bad I could not see past the bow-horizontal rain -we just dropped anchor and had all the canvass up.

My parents live 4 miles from the launch ramp. That's the only ramp I use. Having no ropes on a boat? That's a horrible idea. Glad you helped the guy out. P.s in that same spot that the ramp is in but on the other side of 64. Is the calmest spot to tube I have ever seen...the lake is normally glass anyway hut that spot is amazing.....Jordan lake is supposed to be good for fishing but I have only caught little guys...?

We went back out there yesterday and had a great time. Out in the main lake was crazy choppy and too much for our boat to be enjoyable. We did pull the tube around in there a bit, but then we went back past the bridge next to Ebinezer and it was pretty good back there for skiing and tubing. It got better and better as it got later in the day. Where exactly were you talking about for calm tubing... north of the I-64 bridge? In a cover, or out in the open?

The launch ramp I use is called sea forth. If u leave that ramp and head east parallel with 64 go under the bridge and turn hard left then go parallel with 64 west and it's that corner. Aka in the same spot as sea forth but on the other side of 64.. It's always calm. Maybe we can meet up and hang for the day. I love to tube and ski as well..I should be out there this weekend with my bellows fixed or not !

I did not realize how many local (to me) boaters were on this forum. I go to jordan lake about every weekend. We ought to have a big gathering on the water.

I make a habit of checking radar on my phone before putting in... Skipped this step one time, won't happen again. Wind 10 to 15 mph out of west. West side of the lake was choppy, too much for WOT on my 16ft tri hull. Head for the east side of the lake. Lake shaped like a V, glass smooth. Cruise around for awhile, decide to try fishing a cove. Dropped anchor and started casting. Had a pontoon motor in behind us set up a hundred foot deeper in the cove. 15 minutes later heard a rumble of thunder not very far off. Left both my phones in truck as wife had hers w her. Took a few to get radar up on hers as it was not bookmarked. A little storm was approaching the west side of lake. Stowed gear and pulled anchor, made a point of informing pontoon cap. Said they would be alright. State park marina was a couple miles south of us made a beeline for the marina (alot closer then the ramp we used) Gust front stired up the lake pretty quick. Marina employ even helped tie off. Glad we were one of the first boats in, ended up standing room only. Lunch was 30 bucks.. LOL good burgers,litlle pricy. (wife and 2 kids) Storm kept back building took about an hour for it to pass the lake. Ready to get underway, no water coming from bilge. Long story short bilge was running but not pumping water. long rough ride back to the ramp. Never again will I forget to check radar or leave my phone in the truck!!!!!!!
