Re: Got my Marine Technician Apprenticeship!

Factory training is what they look for along with proven ability. How long is the apprenticeship program? The sweet thing about factory training is it is free and it will help you years from now if you stay in the business and ever want to change locations. As far as tools go I would not keep thousands of dollars worth of tools in my shop box if I dont really need them . I would also find out if your tools are insured for replacement in case of a robbery.

yeah factory training is nice and I will do it down the road once i'm done my apprenticeship and have my license . the apprenticeship is 4300 hrs on the job 750 in class or something like that, so typically 3-4 yrs long. as far as tools go, I will need them for sure can go without wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, pliers etc. as far as shop security goes I haven't asked them im sure they have a security system and I am looking into insurance, besides the shop bays are at the back of the lot and the lot is all fenced in like a compound....not to worried

Just wanted to add my congratulations on the new job as well. I'm highly impressed with the tools! Most kids your age have no desire to invest in anything like tools. I hope you enjoy the training. I'd love to have a tool box that nice, myself----and I'm 40, not 17! :)
Good luck,
JBJ
