couldn't find a thing wrong with it ,except the 182k miles.

What towing equipment does it have, wajajaja? 7200# is not a very light load for any vehicle.

182k miles is bearly broken in for a diesel like that. Look after it and you'll be towing your rig over the appalachian mountains 10 years from now.

Jesus a turbo diesel? Wow, I don't think I have ever seen a Suburban turbo diesel. I guess I can't really compare the Suburban to my Trailblazer but I LOVE my Trailblazer! Nice choice on the GMC!

I probably will want to add a tranmission cooler and temperature gauge for sure.

If it has a factory tow package, the transmission cooler is already there. If it didn't have a factory tow package, make sure you have the heavier transmission before you do too much. It should be code MT1 ( I am 80% certain that's the code) in the glove compartment. That's what transmission my dad's 1997 Chevy Suburban 2500 4X4 had, behind it's 7.4l gas engine. It shifted hard from first to second gear, but it pulled a 12,000lb boat regularly for about 3 years in Florida. The trucks are tough. Keep an eye on the rear drums. If you ruin one, they are about $85 each.

Cool, I have lived here all my life and couldn't imagine living any where else! The seasons are just beautiful! When you come up watch out for the new speed limit on Winnipesaukee, it's 45 during the day and 25 at night. I can guarantee Marine Patrol will be all over anyone going over that. Not to mention if you do get a ticket it goes on your driving record.

Haha tell me about it. My boss had a Solstice, she loved it but didn't have any room for anything. She traded up to a Caddy SRX. Your daughter will love the Trailblazer! It is a very versatile vehicle. For a true body on frame vehicle it is very quiet and smooth on the road, but I digress.

I looked into buying that burb but then noticed where it is located. I do not buy any vechicle from the rust belt. I am on the look out for a 95+ burb from the south (no to little rust) 2500 with a blown motor for the cheap. Ill find one eventually.

The 6.5s are ok motors but they are pretty gutless. Hopefully it isnt all rusted under there on you. enjoy

Trouble is that a lot of us live in the rust belt.
Hard to believe that a 6.5 litre turbo diesel is "gutless" do you mean gutless as a drag racer or gutless as a load carrier and hauler ???? I doubt anyone buys one of those for their acceleration or sports car like performance.

I'll bet you as nickel is has 4.10s Look in the glove compartment (while you're looking up the tranny code) for GT5, that's a 4.10. GT4 is a 3.73. GU6 is 3.42. It will at least have the 3.73.
The 6.5 Turbo Diesel is an okay motor. It only developed about 190hp, but did have some real torque, around 400lb-ft (or 420), I do delieve. It won't out pull the 7.4 of that era which had 295hp and 410lb-ft. But it should get better mileage than a 7.4 4x4 with 4.10s. Unladen my dad's 97 got 10mpg. With his Chap Signature 27 in tow, in Florida (flat ground) it got 6mpg.

Re: got my tow vehicle

Yea that thing should tow just about anything under 10,k pretty reasonably. Not fast but safely, who needs speed and 7000 horsepower towing a load anyway ? (save for freightshaker cummins big cam 14 litres)

You can probably even tow 5,000 pounds and use overdrive in that 4L80E trans equipped ride, the 4L80E is like a turbo 400 with overdrive.
The motor ? Eh, not my favorite but not on my most hated engines list, and with those miles hopefully it has a fresher motor and most the expensive things that go wrong with those type of engines have been fixed by someone else.

Truck looks very clean, very good for the mile's and the price seems fair for what you got.
Well built trucks that have no problems going 3 and 400k miles.

Good luck with it.

Those guys buy auction vehicles, I know you probably have to get it inspected anyway but have your mech go over it good. Having worked at an auto auction I can tell you quality is a crap shoot. Burbans tend to live forever though with proper maint. Good luck with your vehicle.

Re: got my tow vehicle

one of my local Pontiac/gmc dealers are straight up guys, the others aren't, they will do a 60 pt inspection for me, about 80 bucks. they ran the Vin, it has already had a few glow plugs, and a fuel pump around 110k all minor stuff at gm dealers. I figure that its clean enough that I can sell it if its not what I need.

when you look in the glove box there is a sticker with rpo codes that should be 2-3 number/letters long

Re: got my tow vehicle

not sure about GM, but you can email Dodge and get a "build sheet", which will tell you everything the truck came with from the factory. i got one for mine and found out i had an extra cooling package n some other neat stuff...it will def. tell u what gears, and if it is limited slip or not.
