Surely not taking sides here because I respect your opinions. I'm sure you have had great results with the company specified. But I have watched many Hot Rod type shows and most of them do remove heads and even cams and cranks to check things. It really isn't that unusual. Whether the OP wants to do that or not is his decision. But rebuilding a lot of engines myself, I'd have to check their work for my own peace of mind... May not find anything out of the norm, but for that one that is, it could be a life and time saver. I do know a local machine shop around here did a rebuild on a small block and they are a very well respected machine shop as well. Been in business for decades...literally! But my son decided to check the bearings on the crank and discovered they installed the wrong size... Easy fix at that time!
