got started but cuts out

eventualy we started the 50hp seahorse up but it keeps overrevving then cutting out when we let off the rev handle the man down the boat shop and he said take off the manual choke but that didnt work can anyone say what we are doing wrong

Please post the model number of your engine, Johnny.<br /><br />Sounds like your engine is only running long enough to burn up the fuel in the carb bowl(s) and the fuel supply system is not replenishing it.<br /><br />That is what it sounds like initially, but we don't know enough about what procedures you are using and what troubleshooting you have done, and we don't have any history of the engine to work with.<br /><br />Some of what you say is scary, like over revving it with no load. That can result in catastrophic failure. . . . like, BOOM!!<br /><br />Please fill in the blanks.

whi jb my engine no isj50belcic maybe ididnt put it across proper we put the remotes on wrong then we started up but it ran and cut off then we talked to the boat shop man and he suggested taking off the manual choke which we did by then wehad swopped the remotes back around then we started up again but with no luck the only way was to hold thechoke plates down and it started but as soon as we let go it cut off then we ajusted the remotes to press on the carb plate

sorry ran out of space so as it goes the ajustment wasto much aswe started up and the engine was racing so we switched off quick ps it is in abarrel

went to the boat today and had some success we found that the carb plates werent going down far enough to open the air intake because the springs were weak as soon as we adjusted them the engine kept running without racing so hopefully we have success

my engine seems to be fixed al i got to do is get her in the water weather permitting let u know how it goes but weather pretty sh ----

got the boat in the water but she started but then cut out so someone adjusted a screw and she ran well but asoon as we started to ecellerate the engine died but started again but nothing happened anyone no wot the problem is

eventualy fixed the problem the chokes were set up wrong and the ecelearater cable was broken in the middle so we fixed this and boy what difference we actualy went fishing today yippee

should this engine plain with 5 people on board and should the boat go a bit faster than the 30hp?

still getting problems the engine ran good but not good enough it cut out wouldnt start then suddenly it started but it was very jerky as one the the cylinders was trying to work but not then all of asudden she started to fly then she died off we think it could be a fualty ignition coil could this be it any ive ordered one
