Trying to rebuild a friends 1987 Suzuki DT65 water pump because the boat has sat and after running it, very little water was visable coming out of the pilot discharge hole. Pulled the lower unit and rebuilt the pump according to the repair manual. Pump components were replaced and lower unit bolted back on. Still, hardly no water out of the discharge hole! Removed the discharge line and thermostat to check for blockage, all nice and clean. Removed lower unit again to double check the impeller all good according to the manual. Reassembled again and still only a few dribbles out of the discharge hole. Is this normal for these motors to dribble? Any ideas?

Re: Got the Dribbles

Maybe the discharge hole is plugged.

Follow the rubber line from the discharge hole to the block, remove the hose at the block and push a small wire into the hole. If it is blocked it should start peeing right away. Good luck.

Re: Got the Dribbles

take t-stat out and crank over motor, what should come up there
if not you got blackage from block down to pump, if you do them t-stat foward is the problem
