I just got my Hustler, Turning Point prop from Iboats.

Very good prop. I had put my turbo stainless on my boat just to see what would have happened compared to my old Aluminum. It was night and day. I thought something was wrong with my old Aluminum prop. So I got that one fixed. After getting it repaired, I thought, it acted worse.

This Hustler prop is close to my turbo. You can tell the difference from mid range speed and hammering it to go faster..and also top end speed. However, the hole shot is there. The smoothnes of the throttle is there. The tilt and trim of my turbo prop is there.

I just wanted to make a post saying that I would recommend this prop to anyone. Note also I wanted to safeness of an aluminum verses the stainless. I'm sacraficing top end speed. My stainless my boat max speed is about 75 where as with the Hustler it is 60. Plenty of speed.

Was the Hustler a different size than the stainless? I too am interested in the Hustler props after what I've read.

These are good props to me at least. I have used them about 5 total, from a 15, 17, 19 pitch on a Bayliner to the current ones that I have on my new boat. I now have a 21 and 23 pitch model. They work great, and for the price you can't beat them.

I am looking to go high doller, one day and go for the Merc Enertia SS prop, though, but I will always have a Hustler as a spare. I just want to go with the Merc for Pure Speed, when I am in that mood to GO Super fast, lol.

My Turbo was a 14.25x24. The Hustler is a 14.25x23.

On the hole shot the Hustler is ported.....for that purpose.

On the mid range hammer the Hustler is cupped to hang onto the water passing over the blades....for that purpose.

As they tell you in their sales info, they attempted to mimic the SS HP props but in alum for the advantages of alum.

Problem is, for me anyway, I can't get the performance I got in SS on my current rig. Different rig would surely be a different story.

But I must have thought something about them to have to shelled out money to buy one.

If it remains intact, the replaceable hub can really save you money if you boat around the rocks and eat props......you just have to buy the shell.

Enjoy yours.

Yes, insofar as top speed and hole shot, the 17" Hustler does better than the 17" prop that was on the motor, and it does better than the 19" SS.

QUESTION: How do you get the hub out of the prop once it's been used? I bought a new 17" Hustler w/o hub to replace the current one which got banged up enough to lose 4 mph. So now my 15" gets the same speed as the old 17".

Anyway is there some trick to getting the hub out?

To get the hub out, I found a large Flat head screw driver and a few taps with the hammer works well. I just tap on the part, right below where the nut would go, and it will then fall out the back of the prop. Give it a few light, or hard taps, and it will drop right out.

I had the same problem, couldn't get it to come out any other way. Now I just keep a hammer and screw driver in my tool box on the boat, for those on the water changes, lol when testing different props.

Okay, I have a 1" dowel about 9" long -- I used that to try and tap it out -- nothing happened after 5 or 6 hits, so then I started whacking it and it popped out on the 5th whack.

I do have hubs for each of the 15" and 17" props, because I don't want any hassle changing them out on the water or where ever, but I was starting to wonder whether the hub was known to irremovably fuse after extended use.

It's interesting that a considerable difference in performance results after a mess up on the prop blades, even though filed out.

Well you have to pay attention as to the newness of your old and new props.

I say this cause when I bought mine a couple of years ago, they were selling off all their old hub/prop combo's and changing things. You could get a great deal on an old hub designed prop, but it was a bummer cause if you tore it up, you couldn't replace it; hub or prop. Seems the new was of a different design.

And for those of you that get more performance from an alum prop as compared to your SS, it (the SS) must have come from the stone ages.....or you changed something you chose to not tell us about....you know, the "rest of the story".

Just my 4 1/2 cents.

Yes, my props are the ones with the new hubs. BTW, the hub is knocked out of the front of the prop (hit the backside of the hub).

I see that the old hub does not slide as far back into the new prop as it was in the old when I knocked it out. Hmmm.
