If a coil is bad you would only lose spark to whichever cylinder it feeds. A bad wire could get jiggled loose after a while. A weak wire could overheat and lose conductivity and it would return after cooling off. The sneeze usually means that you are running lean. I guess you need to run each wire down indivually and check the connections, look for any discoloration on the insulation, or burnt spots. Each connection will have to be removed and cleaned. Check your ground wires first. Sounds like it could be a bad ground. A tough problem, no doubt.

That's great news !! ...glad to hear you have solved the problem, although I was almost certain that the problem was that you had a screwdriver poking out the top of the motor.... :)

Alright! Hotrod007 was right. Usually when the stator is bad there is goo dripping. Sorry you had so much trouble. At least now you have a spare powerpack and they are easily changed even on the water. About the VRO pump. There are a ton of posts on these cussing and discussing them. I would, and I'm not telling you to, mix my own when I fuel up. This way I know that it is the right mix and I won't find out that the VRO wasn't working properly until I have fried half my engine. Disconnection is easy. Search the topic and you will find several posts on it. Good Luck and keep posting. Your experience can now help someone else.

Glad it's done. Spring sure seems like a long way off.
