Hi! I've got a 93 Mariah Talari Z. It has the 4.3 Mercruiser I/O. The Engine serial # is 0d848189 and the drive serial # is 0d879727. My problem is with the upper-unit. About two years ago somehow all of my outdrive lube drained out and led to stripping out the two upper unit transmission gears. I had a friend take the outdrive apart and locate the problem, but now he has moved and left me with an outdrive that has been taken apart! I'm needing to see how much it is going to cost me for parts, labor and possibly a tuneup on the boat since it hasn't been in the water for two years. <br /><br />Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I hate to see the boat just sitting there not being used... but am I going to get stiffed on parts, labor, etc.. from my local dealer? Make your pictures smaller, can't even read the post without scrolling back and forth.<br />From the looks of the pinion gear, you need a compete drive. I didn't read your post..... Took too much scrolling.

I have seen some NEW aftermarket complete outdrives( upper /lower units) for about 1200.00 on Ebay.I dont know the quality of the units but they seem ok.<br />Chuck

Its almost an impossible question to answer. I would think in the range of 500 to a thousand. If you are mechanically inclined you could get the repair manual, the rebuild kit and do it yourself

Get a new drive on ebay. Selog or leg, I've heard good things about them............

I would suggest a replacement drive from sterndrive engineering. www.sterndrive.cc You will have a warranty and be ready to go in under a week.

Looks like I will be going with a totally new outdrive.. from the serial #'s I gave earlier which drive do I need to get? <br /><br />Thx.

Thx, Bondo... do you have any suggestions as to where to get one? I checked ebay, and a few websites and the prices vary quite a bit. I don't get off work until 6:00 and the local marina here closes at 5:00, so I can't see if they sell them (But I'm sure they are real friggin' expensive.)<br /><br />Thanks again!
