Re: Gotta Know, what did Santa bring you???
Ok, now thats its all over, I have time to share my Christmas experience with ya'll,
First, my daughter and I spent most of yesterday preparing for today's meal. Several pies, dips, and salads filled my fridge last night. So many in fact, we ran out of space and had to put a few things in the car over night to keep them cool. During our preparation, only three recipes were followed, I cook from the hip and this proved to work the best as the three recipes we did follow failed.
This morning the ham, yams, and casseroles when into the oven. I soon found out I needed a second oven, which I do not have but we made it through it.
At noon-thirty people started showing up. By onenish our home was filled with loved ones to the max. This was topped off with our dining room table filled with food and hungry in-laws, out-laws and the lawless. There is one thing for sure at the Unregistered house. If you leave hungry, its your own fault.
Lunch was followed by the gifts being exchanged. Along with the many blessings forwarded by my family, I was proud to present a pre-deployment portrait of my son-in-law, (currently in Walter Reed hospital) to his father. While many might find it easy to find fault in their son or daughter in laws, I am proud to say mine gave his all in our current war on terrorism.
Spending the entire day with my wife, daughter and grandchildren could only have been better had my daughter's husband been able to join us.
With that being said, nearly everyone has a family member or knows someone in military service. Please take the time to call, email, or write them and let them know they are appreciated. Today I pray for two things. A swift end, and many safe returns.
Merry Christmas
