One way to find a leak is to put water into the hull, with a hose.

If it leaks in, it will leak out.

Once found, Gluv It is the answer. Best applied from inside, if possible..

tashasdaddy,

Look real close around any "through hulls".

Does your boat have a livewell? If so, those can definetely be a source of leaks. Especially the hose that goes to the through hull fitting.

I had a similar situation in a Lowe (aluminum) F & S. The livewell sides were not sealed where they met the deck.:^ That source of water drove me nuts for about a year until I put two and two together and figured it only happened when I used the livewell. duh!

now i'm hip. to what gulvit is. it's a mis spell. at the top of that ad in the link. it's really gluvit it appears.
i have no idea if that's what ya need. in reading the blurb for that product i'd have assumed it was for fiberglass repair though. i guess i'm just lost on this thread....hope it works like ya want and ya find yer leak....

OK, let's think about this.

When does it happen? Sitting (moored) or after running? Or, both?

If you can differentiate between the two, that will give us a clue.

having to run bilge every hour when running, and let it sit overnite, lates 15 to 20 min to drain with bilge.

OK, that tells us something. Water is being forced in while underway. Water trickles in while moored.

Obviously, the leak is below the water line. Splash doesn't seem to be a factor.

1. Does your boat have seperate chines rivited on?

2. Is the keel a seperate piece from the bottom panels?

I'm really surprised you can't get this boat to leak by putting water into it.

along with the gluvit I would drill out the old rivets and replace them, then seal the boat. By leaving the rivets loose and just glueuing over you will create a larger long term problem. so first replace the rivets with a rivet gun from the bottom, then seal it.8)

Re: gotta leak and can't find it

do not know if this would work with a boat, but when we want to find a hard to trace roof leak we spray it with water and floricine dye ( it glows under a black light bulb) then check underneath with a black light. Even the smallest leaks become visible. I know you already found it, but thought this might be usefull in the future
