gps - chartplotter mounting location

[John2037]

Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows what this feature is for or if anyone has mounted a gps/chartplotter here (there is a raised flat platform in front of the drivers window)? It seems like this spot would be more in the elements but it looks to be the best spot - what do you think?
