GPS puck mounting / humminbird?

I have a Humminbird Matrix 97 finder. On my old boat I had the gps puck mounted by using a pvc pipe onto an iron base. Did not really like this as the iron rusted out pretty quick. How does everyone else mount their pucks? It has a 1" thread, but I have nothing for it.

Thanks
Scott

Scott, When you say puck you mean thru hull transducer right? if so, how about a 3" or 4" piece of PVC pipe with a PVC cap glued to it. You set the pipe into a bead of caulk, and after that's dry, put some mineral oil in the pipe. Now drill the cap to receive the 1" thread, install the puck into the cap, adjust to fit flat on the hull and glue (or just dryfit) the cap to the pipe end.

I think by "puck" you mean the GPS antenna. Does it look like this? I mounted mine on top of the console. It works fine there. No metal to rust. No bracket. I just mounted it through the 2 screw holes that are in it.

Sorry the gps antenna not the transducer. That is exactly what I have Key West Boater. how did you mount yours? I'm usually pretty good at figuring stuff out, but this one stumps me. I have to figure out a base for it to mount.

Just take of the piece that your pipe screwed into. I think 2 screws hold it on. After you remove it then the antenna should be flat on the bottom. There should be 2 screw holes that you can mount it with. You can drill a hole for the wire or you can run the wire under the little notch in the edge to your GPS (which is what I did). Put a little silicone on the screws to seal them and you should be all set. Atached is link to manual. Look on that shows how it's done.

Sweet thanks. I was trying to get it elevated, but I might just go with the flush mount. Thanks for the link as well. I was on the humminbird site for almost an hour trying to find that. Propably jumped out and bit me a couple of times.

I just have the "puck" laying on the console, it doesn't clutter up things any more than they already are and it works just great thru the canvas top. I also have a Garmin 176C w/the little antenna and is also works just sitting in the console bracket mount. I have an older Loran unit w/ an antenna, I has thought by now it would gone by the way side , but still up and running. It also a back up depth finder for the Matrix unit although I think the Impulse is a little more accurate the the Matrix as for the actuall depth. We pretty much fish the bottom here and one has to keep an eye on things with the downrigger ball, otherwise you hang up and that gets a little spendy.

I cut a piece of 1/2" king starboard I had laying around to the same diameter as antenea. Flush mounted to the starboard, and have velcro strips to attach to boat.
