Just purchased a new c70 raymarine. I hooked it up to power and to the seatalk Bus. Im not getting a satelite fix on my position. Anybody ran into this problem with this unit?

Installed a c70 not too long ago... Seatalk.. e-gad... Don't remember too much about it, and trying hard to forget...

I would check for the voltage to the GPS antenna at the bus... Maybe the GPS antenna is'nt getting power...

Do you have anything else connected to the seatalk bus? Autopilot, VHF for DSC, or another display maybe?

No, we connected the 3 wires red, yellow, and Screen(no color). then the red and black to the power OV(whatever the is) andone to a circit breaker. You had some difficulties as well I take it. could it be a deffect inn the antennae or in the unit itself. hOw do I check with a multi meter or OHM it out?Dave

Ok... Did you use the wire connectors that came with the unit?.. Their junk.. Good heat shrink crimp type butt connectors are the way to go.. I'd re-check the conections on the seatalk cable for the antenna...

Three wires on the seatalk cable.. One is 12 volts positive (red, i believe), one 12 volts negative (yellow?), one is data (gray?)..

I believe that you should have 12 volts between the yellow and red wire on the seatalk cable... I don't recall which wire (red & yellow) was + and -, and for the voltage test it does'nt really matter... Set your meter to a DC volts scale and check the red and yellow...

Its midnight here . Ill check in the morning.right now the seatalk wires are just twisted on until I can find out what the problem is. Ill talk to tech support also. right now I think it could be a problem with the unit or the antennae cable itself. Pretty sure we did everything we were suppose to do.
