Re: GPS Selection

I think I might buy one, Johnnie. Just sold my GPSMAP 162 with my boat and miss using it in my truck.

The 276C is the only model I have found that is a full function auto GPS (with the kit) and a full function marine GPS as well. It also can be used portable because of the internal battery.

I would like a larger screen and may end up going for a larger screen (my use from here on out will be 95% auto navigation), but no other unit I have investigated has the three-way capability.

I have used three other Garmin units and got excellent performance from all. I also enjoyed the flexibility that the Mapsource software offers.

If you want an auto GPS, a marine GPS and a portable GPS the 276C is all three.

Good luck. :)

Re: GPS Selection

I purchased a 276C about 2 months ago and it is working out just fine. It is very easy to use and I find the screen very easy to see in the direct sunlight. I did have a small problem with the power cord and Garmin immediatly sent me a new one so I cant complain about the service.

Re: GPS Selection

I have had a 276C for about a month. Easy to read in the sun. Works great in the boat and the car. I use it with Bluechart, it's great to see the chart on the screen the same as on paper. I just bought a 128Mb card (ouch).

It does not seem to keep the sats acquired as well as my Magellan Meridian Platinum does under some circumstances (trees).

Greg
