I recently purchased a used 86 Grady White 206G with a 92 Yamaha 175 on the Grady Drive bracket. The boat rides great and planes nice especially at full speed around 40 mph. But at even slightly slower speeds the stern really plows down deep into the water, so much so that the water is nearly touching the engine cowling even when trimmed as best as possible. I was wondering if this is a known problem due to the heavy motor being so far off the back of the boat and if anyone has any suggestions. Would trim tabs be the correct way to fix this? I checked the mounting of the motor and it is all the way down and appears to be set very close to the Grady suggested mounting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
