Grady White conversion

has anyone ever closed the transom on a Grady White 240 offshore? was thinking about closing mine and adding a motor bracket. any advice or pictures of this boat or other conversions will help. thanks

Ron G. on Ship Shape TV did just what your talking about on one of his projects - I think it was a Mako.

I am doing this conversion right now (so to speak). I have a 23' walkaround that had twin 120hp Force's on it. Blew an engine last year and yanked them off! The transom was rotted so it had to be fixed. The first plan was to install a 225hp Seadrive which required a full height transom. Since then, I purchased a Stainless Marine bracket of eBay and a 225hp Johnson (same year as the Seadrive, many extra parts). I like the full transom idea so that will continue to be done. The motor well area is being made into a seating/cooler mounting area. I hope to have the motor mounted next week.

Check out www.classicmako.com and go under the project boats section. There are several projects that are closing in transoms. A couple of these have documented their project very well and it is almost step by step instructions to go by.<br /><br />Good luck.

I'll take some pics of mine and send them along. I can also take a pic or two of a 24' Grady I/O that was converted to a bracket and outboard if you'd like.
