Just wondering if any other members are raising their grandkids. The wife and I have been looking after one of ours since he was 2 months old , turned 6 months old today. Came into our care as our daughter and her bf have a drug problem. Love the little man and brings so much joy to us.

Not so far, but still taking care of the 44 and 39 year old boys when they have trouble with life (need another job) to help them out (the grand kids). Only one which never needs help is the oldest grandson which him and his wife is going to make me Great !!! come February

Wish the Boys were as good as my oldest sons boy

Only 1 day a week to help out their parents. It is great having them around and getting to send them home!

Kids being raised by their Grand Parents isn't anything new but happens regularly today. I was basically raised by my Noni and Nono in Western NY until it was time for me to go to school in the 50's. Dad worked shifts and Mom was in and out of hospital for years. Not even in the country I was born in. My 1st lucid memories are from the US then fast foward to Kindergarten. I remember being bullied because I had a funny accent. Still do but not the bullied part. My cousins raised 2 little girls from 2 different daughters. A few couples from on the job raised thier grand children too.

A 30 year old today is the 18 year old of the 70's. I have friends that are still cooking, doing their laundry and cooking and paying for that food for 30 something year olds. I wish I could have gotten that gig. Come to think of it my kid brother 10 years younger is one. If only between one of his 4 marriages over the years. He even spent almost a year with us to help him get back on his feet. I will never learn, see my by-line below.

The best ever bumper sticker ever was the one that read " IF THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH I WANT TO COME BACK AS MY PARENTS GRANDCHILD."

It's not that my posts are long it is that I can type too fast.

There is no such thing as being "part Italian." Italian DNA takes over the entire person.

Exactly ... I had someone correct me that I was only 25% Italian and listed several other of my heritages. I replied that I might be part German, part Dutch, part ... but when it came to Italian, there was no “part” about it.
