Well i got some of my tools in today. I got my engine alignment shaft, bearing installer head, and bellow sleeve installer head. Tomorrow i should have my transom serivce kit, i hope.

Well any way i was going to start greasing every thing on the boat. I wanted to squeez some new grease into the u-joints on the drive shaft but the grease zerks where diffrent. They weren't normal zerks and they aren't the ball bearing style either ( the type you have to use the needle for). So do we not grease them or is there a diffrent attachment for the grease gun for these.

If you guys don't know what i'm talking about i can go get a pic of it if needed. thx.

ok here are some pics of what i'm talking about they are not normal grease zerks. 1 of them has just a touch of rust on the center part. but they move fine. no sound or grinding at all.

If you can remove those fittings, just replace 'em with new zerks. Or take one of the fittings off & see if you can find an attachment for you grease gun. Either way, I wouldn't put it back together without getting some grease into those u-joints. The seals look dry. They won't last long.

I've got to do the same thing. Post a reply and let us know if you had any luck and how you got them out.

Those are the sealed U-joints.
They are not supposed to require any maintenance.
I can tell you from experience that they do dry out. If you can find
a way to grease them without removing them, I would do it.

well no go on getting those plugs out. I could prob get them out if i took off the u-joints but not going to mess with that right now. And if i take'em off i will just replace with new. so there is a new project i can do in a few weeks.
