(Forgive me for an oft-repeated question, but I tried "search" and didn't find what I was looking for).
We've been boating inland lakes for years in NW lower peninsula of Michigan. I've always had required equipment -- PFDs, fire extinguisher, horn. A friend has suggested a short trip from Glen Arbor to the Manitou islands IF all weather reports are for sunny, calm water. What additional equipment do I need once I get beyond the breakwater? The entire trip should last 2 - 3 hours at most, I think, and may be my only venture onto big water, so I can't do major expenditures.
Thanks
