I just wanted to thank all those who assisted me with their wisdom and advice on which prop to purchase. I'd especially like to thank Mr. Walleyehed...he advised me in pitch etc. The results were spectacular!!
Background: I purchased a used 2001 Lund 1800 Fisherman late last fall. It has a Merc XR6 150 hp main motor and 15 hp four stroke kicker. It's a big aluminum fish and ski type boat, 18.5 feet long and @1500 lbs dry weight. When I ran it last fall....it didn't seem terribly responsive and max WOT was @ 5400 rpm trimmed up and
@ 46.7 mph per gps with just me in the boat. Merc. says WOT is to be 5200 to 5600. The stock prop was a BlackMax 14.25", 21 pitch aluminum prop.
The new prop is a 14.25", 19 pitch stainless....recommended by Walleyehed. I took the boat out today with the wife and two kids. She now gets up to 5600-5700 rpm trimmed up with the speed running at 50 mph per gps. I'm not concerned about top speed....but even at my cruising speed 3400-3500 rpm...it's running about 2 mph faster and seems quieter. Overall the boat gets up on plane quicker...and is more responsive. It seems the engine isn't lugging as much...which makes me happy.
So again, thanks to all....this site is extremely helpful in terms of the knowledge and sharing of advice!!
Happy Boating,
Wayne
