Keep my boat under cover on a trailer. Went to put the charger on and was suprised how low the battery was. Then I noticed that my Eagle 500 Sonar/GPS was on!!! I said to myself, stupid $%@* I forgot to turn it off. So I turned it off. About 5 minutes later as I was getting some other stuff ready I saw it come back on !!! Of course it is not under warranty so I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. It's easy enough to unplug it but I just think it's strange. Can I open the cover and use some contact cleaner in the switch? Or should I just get in the habit of unplugging it. TIA

Re: Gremlins in my Eagle

You're not supposed to rely on the unit's on/off switch for powering it down during storage. Install another switch someplace that shuts off the battery power, I just run mine through a power panel in the radio box and shut everything on that auxiliary circuit down.

I think the problem is electrolysis, especially if used around salt water.

Anyway, its in the manual.
