1989 Evinrude E70tlcem. There is a wire coming from under the powerhead that is connected to a terminal mounted to a screw right of center on the swivel bracket assembly. some type of ground? It has corroded in half. I cannot see what it was connected to without removing parts. Motor seems to be running as well as it ever did. Thanks.

Not being familiar with that particular motor, it could be to ensure a ground path for any electrical items connected to the swivel bracket. Or, it could simply be there to prevent electrolysis.

Re: Ground Wire on Swivel Bracket

I figured it might have something to do with electrolysis. Thanks for the input.
