what i have made is a set of boat guides and want to put lights on them, but they are to thich. so i thought about putting(bolting) a piece of aluimium plate to guide(steel), to mount light to. my questions is the lights have to be grounded to trailer, i know, but will grounding go for steel to alumium? will it pass threw?

Yes, there's no problem with the aluminium conducting electricity, it's not as good a conductor as steel or copper but it'll do it! However you'll have to watch out for corrosion issues if you dunk the trailer in salt water. Good luck.

Hi Rosser,

Cool, remember you'll still get some corrosion due to electrolysis, however it won't be nearly as bad as salt water. Just keep an eye on the alloy plates and clean up any oxidation to keep the ground working. Enjoy the boat and the bass fishing. Cheers,

Actually, aluminum is a way better conductor that steel. You still may have an electrolysis problem so you just need to keep an eye on it.
