Grrrrr!! Wont start!"!!!!!

I have a Mercruiser 4.3l v6 1989. Just put on new starter motor, cleaned all terminals, but will it start Oh No, lets muck him around i here the engine snigger . It seems to turn over fine but wont catch and roar in life so i can scream it lives it lives!!!!!!. Any body any ideas please sparayed carb cleaner in also to clean it out and to hopefully help it start.

Pull a plug wire and see if you getting spark! Use insulated pliers though, it hurts when that thing bites ya'!

Ayuh,.............<br /><br />Now that you've got it turning over,........<br />You still need the 4 basics,...<br />Fire,....<br />Fuel,.....<br />Compression,......<br />And, All at the Right Time..........<br /><br />I'd say your Still missing 1 of them...........

When I check for spark I use a #2 phillips screwdriver. It has the aprox diameter of a spark plug terminal. I pull the wire off a plug and insert the screwdriver. I hold the screwdriver close to a good ground and have someone turn over the engine while I look for spark. My method allows me to change the 'gap' to see how strong a spark I have. An old addage for guaging a spark is: If it's white it's alright. If it's blue it will do. If it's red it's dead.
