I just got back from the Yukon- the combination of the 19' gruman canoe and 6hp evinrude worked very well.Plenty of power to go upstream, excellent load carrying, and in general did evrything I was hoping it would.About the only thing I will do is to get one of those ''river runner'' shoes to attach to the skeg, I was in some fairly shallow water from time to time.Does anybody have any experiance with those?

I have seen many thing on the water in my life, but never a canoe with a motor. I bet that thing glided good on the surface. How did they  mount that thing? It has no transome, or does it?

Chris - I had a 17' Grumman with a 6 hp on it and yes it was square sterned. Overpowered if anything.

My Grumman canoe is square sterned and designed to be powered by a small outboard. It is not a ''yuppie'' canoe- but a workboat meant for carrying loads''the pickup truck'' of the north
