So here is my story.

The Admiraless and I have been looking to buy a iece of property on the Suwannee river for a couple of years. It is our local waterway just about 25 min from our home.
Looked and looked, finally found one in June. Negotiated price, agreed pending sucessful inspection of well and septic system. Long story short the septic had some issues. So we made another offer which was refused. DAMN.

Fast forward to Monday of this week, owners contacted me and asked if my offfer still stood. Yes it does!!! So we have signed paperwork put binder down and all is in motion. Just waiting on title company to finishtheir job then we close either the end of next week or early the folowing week. Owners said we were welcome to go and go down and start clearing and clean up ect.

Now the problem. We are super duper excited. Thursday night we went to take the kids to the fair and yours truly stepped in a small ditch that was supposed to be covered by the fair people. Stumbled and Broke my stinking ankle. So now I am all excited watching a beautiful day go by that we could be working on our new property. No walking and no driving, certainly no boating, no nothing but cast and tv. Stupid fair.

Sorry for the long post but I am all by myself and bored and needing to vent.

Can you sue the fair for anywhere near the price of your property?

My wife and I see things oposite. She knows that every silver lining has a dark cloud.

Well since I thought the end of this story was gonna be something about losing the property.....I'll just say it could be worse!!

Hope you feel better.

Don't sue them....that one of the reasons people hate lawyers and are afraid of being liable for their own shadow these days.
Buck up, live with it...you'll be back on your feet in no time enjoy your new place, and you are right it could be one whole lot worse.;):D

It seems to me that you are doing exactly the right thing.

we all need to vent a little at times before we look at the bigger picture and realize we are fortunate.

so have a little pity party, call whine one one and ask for a waaaamulance, then be happy :)

Why not just relax since you have no choice for about 6 weeks. Lay back and reflect on the new place and develop your ideas in detail. Then when you are back up to speed you can execute a well thought out plan....At lease you wont miss any boating this time of the year.

I suppose I deserve that. I am whining and complaining. I know. But sometimes it has to happen.

I am not planning on sueing the fair. I am going to ask that they pay my medical bills especialy if I have to have surgery, which we will know on thrusday. I am not trying to own the fair. But that is what they have insurance for.

I am very fortunate I know. Just dissapointed we could not work on things this weekend, because I am soooo excited, this has been a long time coming.

On the bright side when we finally get me up and running again and get this riverfront property ready to go all of I-boats is invited to the inaguaral get together on the Suwannee. At Garrison Landing. That is the name of the property my sons name is Garrison and our last name is Land.:D

Also thanks for the well wishes.

Congratulations on the home--- enjoy :)

It's a bummer you broke the ankle.

I would not put the cart before the horse and do any work to a property before closing. The deal could always go sour, you do not own a property till it is recorded at the deeds office.

They have medical payments coverage for incidents exactly like your, for sure. The amount of coverage will be pretty low, though. Probably not anywhere near the amount an orthopedic surgery costs.
They do have liability insurance to prevent money grubbing people from trying to "own" them. You are right about that. But prepare yourself for this phrase: "Open and Obvious."
Good luck with your whine and cheese party, and your recovery.

Just to make sure you understand, I wasn't in the least trying to put you down. Quite the opposite. We all feel down at times. I just wanted you to see that you are not alone and then, be happy and move on.
