hey ya'll
finishing up the boat in the morning all I have left to do is the guage wiring. I thought I had it all figured out until I just read a post about installing a new tach on an evinrude motor. I have an older evinrude v4 85 horse out of the control unit is purple, black, and gray wires I was under the impression these were the wires from the sending units but in the other post one is ign (i think that means power when the key is on?) ground and sender for the tach. is that accurate? if so which coler is which? I was hoping one wire was the sending unit for the water temp another for the tach and so on but I am incorrect? help would be appreciated and where are the different sending units located on a v4 if those arent the wires? thanks for the help,
josh

Re: guage wiring

Purple is key-on 12v+ to the I
Black is 12v- to the Gnd
Gray is the signal to the S

Re: guage wiring

Just so you know, the temp sender wire (tan) is not intended to be used with a gauge. It's simply on or off and provides a ground for the overheat horn.
