Step right up folks! Place your bets!
After a much to long winter, I am finally hitting the lake this weekend to try out my new prop.:D

The boat is a 21.5ft Wellcraft 216xl Eclipse with a 295hp 7.4l/Bravo 1. Last year, I ran a consistent GPS 57.8mph @ 4800rpms with 2 adults, 52 gallon tank of gas and the usual sundry of gear. That was with a 14.75x21p 3 blade SS Mirage Plus.

Saturday, I'll be running the same load but with a 14.625x23p 3 blade SS Mirage Plus.

So place your bets folks! MPH to the nearest 1/10th. Winner recieves this virtual cute wittle pink bunny wabbit!

Hey, this is kind of fun. Traditional theory says you're only going to gain like 1/10 of a mph. But I'm going to say the big block is still able to turn the 23" prop well and you'll end up at 60.58 mph.

The numbers are in. Top speed with the new prop is...

56.4mph:(

And the winner is Gary H NC. Here's your prize.:D

The new prop turned out to be little bit of a disappointment. Hole shot was good and the mid range was great (40mph @3000rpm) but it was actually slower than our old 21p prop at WOT. (56.4mph @ 4400rpm vs. 57.8mph @ 4800rpm) Just couldn't get any more rpms out of her. :( On the other hand, I was able to trim to the sky and get a sweet looking rooster tail without blowing out the prop.

So for maxing out my speed it's back to the drawing board. But I'll probably run the 23p for the higher cruising speed which should also improve my fuel mileage.

I'm in the same boat as you. I ran 57.3 at 4900ish RPMs with the 350 Mag and small cam. This was with a 21 Laser. I should probebly try the 23, but now I feel that it would probebly be best if I stayed with the 21 in case I get more gear or more people. I'll still have some rpms then vs going to a 23 and dropping down to 4500ish and then with a load 4200ish and straining the motor. Now, I may want to try a 21 Mirage Plus to see what happens but I dont feel guessing and testing with $$$ lol

Id look at Enertia if i were you, dunno if you can fit one on a bravo but i do know this. it has a 13.5 inch barrell and the there are people over in the Caravell forums running that pitch and barrel size with no venting issues....i picked up a 22p laser with a 13.5 barrel i will be trying it our Wed....
