Re: GULF WAR
i too, loved NOVA SCOTIA.. i took the ferry boat over from BAR HARBOR,ME.. in the year of 'jaws'.. whatever that year was..

i hitch - hiked around the whole providence, by myself.. spent 19 days & spent $ 65.oo dollars.. an the USD was only worth .80 cents at the time..

i loved it.. unbenonced to me.. nova scotia is a big figure '8'.. it's great for traveling.. crossed HALIFAX'S path twice.. comin' & goin' from CAPE BRETON.. beautiful scenery is the world's biggest understatement.. words do no justice..

HALIFAX is a pretty city...

out of the 19 days,, i only slept outside 8 nites..in a tent,, one nite in a kids tree fort in a field i was passin' by by at dusk..

spent 2 nites in a tent just tryin' to 'hitch outta' PEGGY'S COVE.. hitched all day.. to no avail.. pitched the tent.. woke up early.. 'thumbed' all day,, no ride.. repitched the tent & slept for the 2nd nite.. broke camp.. thumbed all mornin' .. finally a car came in sight..

(pause,, in hitch-hikin',, you can tell if'n a car is goin' to give ya a ride.. even before it stops.. karma-o-the-road..)

i knew the car was goin' to stop,,the first i'd seen of it..i was finally goin' to get a ride outta there..thank the lord ,i packed food, water & a little stove in my backpack..i woulda 'freaked' if i had to spend another nite in the same spot..

sure enuff,, it did stop.. an they were all YELLIN' my name & wavin',,before the wheels stopped..

they knew me..!! WHAT DA HECK..!! i was in the 'twilight zone'..my heart stopped..WHAT DA HECK..!!

they were some folks i had worked with as a dishwasher in a restaurant back in bar harbor.. they quit also ,, an took a car trip around nova scotia.. unbenounce to me..

that was just one of many 'odd' experiances i had on that trip..

but most nites,, my last ride wouldn't wouldn't take me sleepin' out in a tent in some strange woods or hedgerow by the road an would invite me home to his family an a home cooked meal..

you folks were very friendly an warm to this YANK.. i appreciate it,, an will never forget it...
