Re: Gun Shot Victim

Or he was shot by a business associate against whom he would not testify.

In some areas people carry loaded guns in their boats for snakes. I personally do not think this is a good idea or necessary, although cottonmouths can get aggressive and try to climb into boats, or so we're told. But for that use, you'd be better off with snakeshot, as it would be more likely to hit the snake and less likely to puncture the boat in case of mishap.
Folks posting here have exhibited good safety protocol if they have a gun on board. I am sure, though, there are many dangerous armed idiots on the water just as there are on land.

Not Gone, just have to work for a living. And that's not easy now days. Can only say what was in the paper. Not a very informative article. As for the stupid part, I think everyone should own at least 10 to 15 guns apiece. But they should also know how too use them. Me personally, I carry a COLT 1911, but only for two legged critters and the ocassional snake. If it did go off as he said, you can bet he has been trying to play gunsmith himself.

something doesn't sound right. The gun was broken or, more likely, the author was.

Re: Gun Shot Victim

At my buddy's gun club a lawyer shot himself by accident. After the paramedics arrived he showed them how he did it and shot himself a second time. This was not a lawyer joke but it could be. This unfortunately is a true story. I carry a Colt Officers model 45 ACP cocked and locked. You can drop or even hit the gun with a hammer and it will not fire unless you pull the trigger. I don't see a problem carrying a firearm while on a boat or in a car. There are a lot of two legged animals out there. I consider a gun a tool just like any other piece of equipment. You use it when you need to. I have never seen or heard of a gun jumping up and shooting anyone all by its self.

As an EMT let me say, If it wasn't for "smart" people doing stupid things we would have alot less emergencies to respond to.

Another scenario:

He wasn't the lone gunman. Did the Authorities check the grassy knowl or book depository?

When my kids (I have 8 total, from 10-31) tried to tell a story that does not make sense like that there was always another person or persons involved, and there is almost always at least one of the opposite sex in the full story somewhere...:D

i am extremely familiar with all sorts of small arms and the only 9mm i can think of that has inherent safety issues are the original german army issue circa 1943ish lugers. for a weapon to go off someone or something has to pull the trigger. semi automatic pistols do not go off just by dropping them. i could see some moron dropping it, getting the trigger guard caught up in fishing gear on a messy redneck boat and the idiot picking it up by the muzzle end because that barrel is a handle for a moron to pick a gun up by... and yanking it twice setting off two shots.

On November 29th, In 1976, Jerry Lee Lewis shot his bass player, Norman "Butch" Owens, twice in the chest . Lewis was charged with shooting a firearm within the city limits..

they said it was accidental!!
once maybe, twice no accident!
