But, the anti-gunners, that live with body-guards (Rosie) and in gated communities, will wear this out. No body-guards or gates, and the tune would change. Hypocrites.

Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

....It is ironic that the solution proposed by some is more stringent gun control. That is illogical on every level ......

Not really so QC. The Libs get a twofer on this one. The rank and file Lib thinks that they are doing something, because they care soooooooo much and will get points toward Liberal Valhalla.

The Liberal Elite knows that the rank and file are so enamored by caring acts, that they make headway (just another notch, mind you) in gaining complete control of the populace.

Now I know that I am going to catch flak on this one, but in my IMLTHO, todays liberal elite is driven by evil. Hmmmmmm, where have I heard that term recently?

That's OK QC. You don't have to touch this one.;)

Boom, as usual, we agree; I went to public school before the teacher's union got control. Therefore, I can think. I wonder if the socialists in here were taught by union teachers? This ought to get me canned. Where is individual responsibility? The leftists are teaching that there is none-big brother will take care of you, just sit back and don't apply yourself. Other people will pay to take care of you.

There are only two solutions:

Destroy every gun in the world

or

Allow everyone to arm themselves

I have also noticed an alarming trend in these shootings. Where are the heros?

I dont know how I would react, but I hope to think I would do SOMETHING to take this guy down rather than cower in the corner waiting for my turn. Its just one freakin guy and a huge classroom.

Does America need to train its students in defence? Used to be, dad would do that, but the pussification of American may have changed that.

Coors, heres the problem.....you have done exactly what I figured you would.

  1. You assume that because I don't want guns on campus, I am for gun control I am NOT
  2. You assume that because I don't want guns on campus, I am a liberal I am NOT

Please let me know when you are done pigeon hole'in me, and making assumtions. I am 100% for people being able to carry and protect themselve. I am against anti-gun laws. It is just my opinion that they don't belong on campus where 75% of the population is drunk, hungover, stoned, or all of the above. If you took a step onto a college campus you may come to realize the the majority of students do not have the reasoning skills or responsibility to own a handgun.

Don't shove your NRA facts in my face, I know and realize that being allowed to carry has stopped crimes..........but I am curious; how many were on a college campus?

As a college student, I don't feel that many students should carry. I don't find it necessary, and I think that it may actually lead to more violence. You dont have to look much further than the fights at bars and even high school play yards to realize that college students arent that removed from that behavior.........

It took 2 hours to get a blanket email out to students to stay inside and watch out. I think that is where we need to look to improve.........

Even if it is allowed by the school, or law, it is still illegal for students to bring a gun to school without the proper concealed handgun permit in their state. In order to get that permit they need to at least take a test, and in a lot of states they must take a handgun safety course first. The general public is made up of at least 70% of people who are too stupid to be trusted with a gun...but there's not much you can do about that. I don't think a school campus is any different than, say, an apartment building in the number of people that should and shouldn't be "allowed" to carry.

Yabut Bruce, the adults, teachers and profs, are a different story. IMHO, they are kinda like pilots. If they want the responsibility, they should be aloud to shoulder it. Many a time, if the teacher was armed, this kind of thing would have been cut short.

I see no problem with guns for the faculty or staff, but Pony makes some good points re guns and students.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a gun control advocate, I'm a solid conservative. And I'm not even saying we shouldn't allow the students (of legal age) to carry a gun. After all, the second Ammendment aplies to ALL our citizens, not just the older, responsible ones. But I at least agree with Boomyal, the staff and faculty should be allowed to carry if they so choose.

Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

I'm for gun control only to an extent. I don't think anybody really needs a Howitzer or Bazooka. Other than that, if somebody handed me a machine gun at the shooting range, you bet I'd like to give it a try. (Yeah, a bazooka too. ;)) I don't forsee buying one though. Gun control probably couldn't have prevented this, but I don't think throwing more guns into the environment is the answer either. Any gun can fall into the wrong hands or be used in tragic haste. We need to maintain our gun-free zones. Nobody but law enforcement and security. Churches, schools, hospitals, banks, more. If it takes metal detectors at the doors, OK by me. I know they're expensive, but the price goes down with mass production.

Too early to say, but ponder this. What responsbility lies with the parents of this student shooter? What if the gun(s) was a present from them from better times? Or given for protection?

Nope Coors, should not get you canned. Simply said, it shows you do not know as much as you think you know.

Please give support as to what "leftist are teaching." Otherwise it's just BS propaganda. I will then completely understand why you always agree with Boom.

Teachers don't teach apathy, PARENTS DO. Again, place blame where you wish, it simply shows ignorance.

Re: Gunfight at the DC Corral.....

It appears the shooter was an asian exchange student - not a US resident - who should NOT have had a gun. Also, it appears the serial numbers were filed from the guns. Doesn't sound like anything gun control would fix to me ... but what to I know.

I do feel there should be a test - written, oral, and proficiency - before being able to pack a CONCEALED weapon, and that would take care of the young whippersnapper drunken college kids that would want to pack LEGALLY.

I am NOT in favor of gun registration - Shucks, Penna. wants to register ALL guns and charge you $10 per gun per year to do so - for someone like myself, we are talking HUNDREDS of dollars a year just in registration fees.

Nope, gun controls and taxes are not the answer. Teaching gun safety and self defense is. I have taken young kids hunting and when the literally see the destruction a gun can and will do, when they see the life of an animal end after they have pointed and pulled a trigger, their attitudes towards guns and violence changes. Teach them to hunt and hunt safely and they will make safer citizens is what I say.

A concealed weapons permit (CWP) does not allow you to carry anywhere you want to. In general, you can't carry in any public buildings (libraries, schools, churches, etc.), you can't carry in government buildings, you can't carry on private property without the consent of the owner, etc.. Additionally, you always have, first and foremost, the duty to flee. Most of your states' laws are probably online somewhere...

The law in Florida is that you can stand your ground, instead of getting shot in the back while fleeing.

HMMMMMM.....
Standing your ground, unarmed, doesn't seem like the wisest action, ....:D
Attack or flee are valid options, however ;) ......IMHO

I think it makes perfect sense for hung-over, sex-crazed, immature 18 year olds to be packing. I say give 'em nukes!
