We were talking about body weight a while back... I decided to lose some weight this year and I found this little diet thing that actually works. It all revolves around a soup recipe... of which you can eat as much of it as you want. I've lost a pound a day since I started... so has my neighbor and his wife... a pound a day! I'm only on day 6 but they've lost more than 10 pounds in only 2 weeks. The diet is meant to be a kickstart to a healthier lifestyle... blah blah blah... but it works is the bottom line. Try it but it recommends after 1 week to take a few days off before doing it again.
1 or 2 can tomatoes
6 green onions
1 500 ml. can beef broth or more
1 package veg. soup mix
1 bunch celery
1 or 2 can green bean
1 or 2 green pepper
5 carrot stick
I seasoned mine with Tabasco and parsley but it says to try currie too. The 7 day plan is as follows (remember, all the soup you can eat every day... the more the better it says);
Day 1. Soup / any fruits but no bananas
Day 2. Soup / all veggies but beans, peas and corn. If you haven't cheated you're allowed a baked potato with butter on it.
Day 3. Soup / same as day 1
Day 4. Soup / 3 bananas and lots of skim milk
Day 5. Soup / 10 to 20 ozs. of beef and 1 can of tomatoes
Day 6. Soup / steak (up to 20 ozs.) and all the veggies you can eat
Day 7. Soup / brown rice, unsweetened juice and more veggies.
That's it. Stop after day 7 for a break and then back to it.
Drinks allowed are unsweetened juice, tea, coffee(watch the sugar and cream!), cranberry juice and lots of water. I'm also taking a multi-vitamin.
Hey, I'm feelin' good too... try it!

Oh yeah... me too! The soup is actually pretty tasty but this whole diet thing does require some focus and dedication... so be fat my friend! :)
It's an easy one to follow because you're always 'full' but it may not be everyone's 'cup of tea'!
I found that the soup doesn't 'hit the spot' for a couple days but then it does satisfy. By then you've lost a few pounds and can feel it so it keeps you motivated. A buddy of mine had chest pains and his doctor put him on the same diet minus the second steak day.
Try this, it works!

Hey Magster could you do me a favor?

A: List a source for this diet.
B: Keep us posted on your results?

I'm not a nutrishment expert but have a friend who is.
I want to run this by her. It looks like a pretty stable diet to me. And (not boring) for a change.

I could gain, and herself could loose! Imagine that LOL

Re: Gut removal

The old "eat less / move more" diet works every time.

Just try eating half of what you would normally eat. Drink half as many soft drinks as before. Take lots of walks and ride the exercise bike while watching your fav TV show.

You will lose weight but without the downer boring diet.

Just wish I could follow my own advice. :D

Ken

I've lost about 60lbs and I still eat nothing but unhealthy food and I eat whenever I'm hungry. :D I used to eat alot when I was just bored, and not actually hungry...

It won't work, Magster. Why? It's not sustainable. When you get tired of it (and you will), you will slide back into your old foods and all the weight will come back. Sorry bud, but it just won't work. Talk to anyone who's done it.

A balanced diet, low on refined carbs, lots of grains and good fats and healthy protein, and you'll not only lose weight, you'll feel a LOT better.

Re: Gut removal

You skinny guys... geez!
The diet is only meant to give you a kick start. You're right, a balanced diet and exercise is the key but getting started is a drag... this has made it easier for myself and my neighbors so I thought I'd share. After I get sick of this (you're probably right) I can live on a (basically all you can eat) veggie based diet during the week, no problem, and enjoy some hi-carb and fatty stuff on the weekends. I set up a weight room in my spare garage and I just need to get a stationary bike in there for some cardio. I've only lost 5 pounds but I feel good and I don't even feel like 'cheating'. Ya' gotta' start somewhere right?

You got it!
Smoking... I went through that too. I haven't smoked for over 15 years now. The first time I quit, it was New Years and that was my resolution. It worked for a while... until the following New Years eve! I got drunk with my 'buddies' and started smoking again that night. What a fool I was... I had to quit again too. If it makes you feel better I think it was a little easier the second time. Sorry about your father... quit for your health and do it for him too, as with most, he would be proud of that accomplishment.
Pick a day and do it!
