guys why are bass boats so difficult to paint to spec/stock colors..

Why is it so hard ive read allot of posts.And is it because the metal flake and clear coat that makes it so hard.......what should i do if I put a good size gouge in it or something? ive read allot but what would YOU guru's do...


lets say its a 2009 triton no warentee or nothing uve only got 300.00 dollars to fix a good size gouge in the side of the hull......how would you repair it and match that flake ect....

Ayuh,... I'd fill it with Marine-Tex,.. Sand it out,+ put a decal over it....
Because it's Impossible to Match the metal flake Gelcoat with Paint....

so what if you do choose to paint a bass boat...And you dont use metal flake paint it just like the rest of em...is that a stupid idea or has anyone seen it done.

If you're painting the whole boat you can make it any color you want.:)
