I went to the boat today and the pumps were running, it was fine yesterday. I looked around an found the spot.It is a 1988 Alpha one 350. When you look at the transom from the inside you have the drive shaft and right above that there is the raw water inlet hose. Now about 2 inches to the right of the hose is a 3/8 round hole in the transom and water is just pouring in from that hole. I pluged it with a rag to stop it. Anybody got a clue. 2 Marine mechanics dont who looked at it
Thanks in advance

Your bellows most likely have a hole,

My configuration is a little different, The hole is just to the right of the raw water tube, had all the bellows changed last July and hardly any hours on them
Thanks

Those 2 holes with the arrows go directly into the bellows/gimbal bearing area.If water is coming out of them your bellows sprung a leak.

Pull the drive and look for water in the bellows. If there is water in the bellows, it will get into the engine compartment.

The only hole I can think of anywhere near where you're describing on the transom plate is the bolt hole for the ground wires. The other holes will have bolts or studs in them.

OK see the picture you put up, take a look at the middle cut out which is almost square, that is where the raw water tube comes out (a little bit to the left on the cut out) and my hole wherer the water is coming in is on the right of the cut out but inside that square hole

Is the transom housing original or is it a new GEN II type.
