Well the 4th of July is over and I am sure every one of you got the ole' boat fired up and cruised her out on the water. If any of you were in Alabama at Lake Martin then you can agree with me that the weather could not have been more perfect and the company on the lake any better. Fishing in the morning was kind of a bust, and being out on the water during the day a little choppy but it was well worth it especially at night. Many of you can agree that a night ride is unlike anything else when the water has turned back to glass and all the stars finally come out! Along with the great weather I also have to tip my hat to the Kowaliga fireworks show, not to bad guys and keep the shows coming in the years to come. Anyways thought I would share a little piece of the weekend with everyone, hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Welcome to the best kept secret in the South! Glad you enjoyed L-M. Did 'ya check out Chimney Rock while you where here?

Unfortunatly, we had a drowning here on the 4th. Young man went in for a dip and did not come back up. Sad..... Couple of other close calls I heard about, also.

But I tell 'ya, you were brave to be on the water for the Kowliga fireworks. Did it once by water, never again!! My wife's Aunt has a place at Shady Bay, on the upper end of the lake, we sit on her front lawn and watch the show, no crowds or idiot boaters :D

Glad you enjoyed your day, Welcome Back anytime :)

Hey thanks royal! Yeah we visited Chimney Rock, my grandparents have retired and bought a house in Stillwaters right outside Dadeville. So it is a good hike to chimney rock and even further to Kowliga, especially with all the traffic out on the water. We left a little early from the fireworks so we could beat all the idiots back, but you had it right about just sitting back and watching from the shore. I didn't hear about the drowning but we just knew something bad would happen out on that lake during the course of the weekend due to all the traffic! We used their big pontoon boat all weekend so we felt a little more safe out there on the water, I believe my 16 ft. fishing boat might have been a little hairy out there especially Sunday night! I have always loved that lake and plan on boating out there for years to come. Take it easy and be safe out there!
