Hi,

So I had a company sand and reapint by 20 year old Bass Tracker trailer. I bought it in fall and wanted to have it repaired (fendor weld) and re-painted. They sandblasted, sanded it, two coats of primer, and top coat with hardener. When I was inspecting it, I noticed they painted right over the decals that run along side. There is a thick coating over it, so I dont think it will be a problem, but I thought I would get some opinions here. I didnt pick up the trailer yet, so I could ask tell I want the decals removed, but not sure if it is an issue. I was planning on buying new decals online to replace the original ones, so I could stick the new ones over the old area, which would hide area.

So is this an issue I should be concerned about? Should I demand they remove them and re-paint?

Any advice is appreciated...Thanks!

I can't believe the sandblasting didn't take off the decals. Are you sure they did all they say they did?? I would be questioning the shop a little more if I were you. Good luck, Bill

An issue,,,probably not....unprofessional on the part of the painter, absolutely....if you don't care then no biggy, but if the old labels show through and look bad, I would have them redo it...you paid for a professional job, demand one

there is no way they sand blasted the trailer if your old decals are there, however depending on the amount of rust that was there, it could simply be that where the decals were, the metal is original thickness and it has been thinned by rust everywhere else.

If the old decals are indeed under the paint, have them actually blast the frame and repaint or get your money back.
