hail damage to shrinkwrap

Hello all, so i got lucky and missed the tornado but my shrink wrap looked like a thousand cats ran all over it claws out. Hundreds of little punctures. I have a regular boat cover that I'm going to put on tmrw that is that "water proof" canvas stuff but with all the spring rain coming should I just throw the cover over the shrinkwrap ? Probably a stupid idea......

Cover over shrinkwrap may equal mildew depending on your cover. In your area of the country I would replace with cover alone. I doubt you will see a large accumulation of snow now. I am replacing my winter cover with my Bimini next week in chicago. We are going in the water in 5 weeks. Iwill have to paint bottom and clean proior to getting wet. the time flys when you Have a launch dedline.

If you have hundreds of holes, that means all that hail is now water inside of the Shrinkwrap.
The hail was likely accompanied by a lot of rain too!

Drying out the boat may be in order before recovering!

Pull the plug and get the bow as high as you can to get the water out and put your normal cover on it adn I am with Unclewillie, it shoud be dried out if at all possible.

Isn't it almost time to be taking the shrink wrap off and getting the boat ready for the season?

I am wondering if there was any damage to the boat from the hail (probably not )

But other then the punctures no other damage to the boat, I will take off the shrinkwrap today and let it airdry as much as possible. It's sunny just not very warm. Thanks all!

Gawddamn!! ...the damage to those boats is enough to make me cry, Glowplug!! Glad to hear your own boat didn't suffer too badly. Good luck with the cleanup.

Glowplug, glad you didn't get hit too bad by the storms. Hope it's getting past you early and you have a long, peaceful boating season!
