I'll try and get the year details tommoro. The boats at my parents farm, I have no space to work on it at my place.

Here's my old boat - http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...oject 15ft Half Cab Yalta Craft/my1stboat.jpg

Went shopping today got 20 litres or poly resin, 500mls hardener, 1kg of q-cell filler, 2 ltrs of wood preserver, acetone to clean up, a metal roller. Will need to find some containers and good latex gloves. Apparently you need latex gloves.

2moro I'm hoping to repair 2 holes in the hull were we grinded a little to far, should be a quick repair. Next we'll have to get the stringers and keel into shape so we can epoxy wood preserve them. Try and get 2 coats on them.

The products -

The reciept -

I'll get some more pics 2moro of the clean hull. Lots and Lots of grinding!

Any advice or input would be really welcome as were novices to this type of work.

Here's the hull ground out -
groundout.jpg

Shaped the stringers and keel a little more precise. Found that they had bent from storing them on some roof rafters for a week.

Used the original keel as a template, relised it was abit short, added an extention to the tip to save having to add lots of filler like we previously found and ground out.

Attached it using long countered screws. Will need to use filler and glass after we epoxy preserve it.

Here's the windsceen, got a quote for around $50 to get new perspex cut to fit. Will clean the alloy while I wait for the new peices.

Got the Bimini (canvas roof) restiched ($35) and cleaned it. pretty cheap as they restiched all the old stich. Cleaned it with a heavy duty cleaning detergent (must have a small persentage of bleach in it) It came up pretty good.

Had a spectator come visit while working on the wood this morning

Couldn't offer much usfull advice though!

Next post I'll hopefully have the keel and stringers glued in!

I was in AU for a year n half a little while back...O my, our taxes are nothing to what the have. Loved the boats over there. Yalta and a couple other mfg's (I can't think right this minute) have some great quailties about them. Another thing was all the tinnies. They are everywhere!!! The steps you are talking seem to be right on track andrea. When you start lying glass having two people is almost a must. One person mixing, one person works the glass/resin. Your works look great. I was looking at the pictures really close and it looks alot like QLD area maybe??? Keep us update.

How are you going to use the epoxy? Polyester won't bond well to it, so you don't really want to mix the two in the same job.
