Pulled the drive (2 year old complete new gen 1 alpha 1 SEI) Expecting to find bad u-joints or gimble bearing. Everything is clean, bearing is smooth as glass, zero noise. U-joints also feel great, I can't detect any notchyness or play at all by hand - very smooth and free, almost floppy feeling. Zero water intrusion in the drive anywhere either.

I have new spicer joints, should I just change them put it back together and hope for the best? Not sure what else to look for? After pulling the drive I slid the alignment bar in, seems fine.

Note: The boat's primary use is pleasure cruising, higher speed 60+ runs with a lot of trim, and a lot of tubing with the drive tucked. (18' Checkmate - 260hp)

Did you check your engine/gimbal alignment with the alignment tool?

My guess would be u-joints or alignment.

Check for telltale signs on the U-joint yolks where they may be striking each other. You mention "a lot of trim". The angles of those U-joints change severely with a lot of trim and can strike each other when you add the further angle of turning. You should not be using your "trailering" position. I assume you would know that.
Failing Gimbal bearings can be noisy when turning. "Hammering noise" does sound like U-joints to me however.
