Does anyone have anything bad to say about the Uniden Atlantis Marine VHF Hand-Held radio? I Fish the Ohio River and would like to get it for my wife so she can listen in to the barges, (don't know why but she is totally fascinated by them). Thanks...W

ArcWinston
Don't know anything about the radio you listed but I would suggest you also look at the West Marine VHF 100 and VHF 200 before your buy.

I bought one of each this year for $139 and $179 and love both. They are not tiny but larger than some. Being larger has bigger speaker and great sound. Comes with a drop in charger that runs on 110 volts ac or 12 volts dc. Batteries are rechargable AA and for me lasted the whole week of our vacation. Radio scans any channels you want. The higher cost VHF 200 has a option for a external mike and also has a display that tell you what each channel is used for.

Anyway I like mine and I checked out a lot of units before I picked these. I always recomend getting a fixed mount unit first if you have a battery to run it.
