Handling question

I am kind of a n00b to really technical boating performance, etc. Anyway, I was curious if there was anything I could do to get my outboard to sit in the water while cornering hard? I believe it only does it when turning right, but I don't remember after the long Minnesota winter :). Someone was talking about something the other day to me, but I can't recall the exact name.

Thanks!
Tony

Boat is a Four Winns 160 Freedom with a V4 120 OMC/Johnson outboard.

Re: Handling question

trim down, slow down, hard cornering is dangerous. the engine is cavatating, sucking air instead of water. take a safe boating course. there should be plenty.

Re: Handling question

Trimming the motor down a little my be enough to keep it from cavitating. If that doesn't do it you may need to lower the motor mounting position by one hole.

Re: Handling question

It's even when I'm going pretty slow. I'm not too worried about controlling the boat, etc. I've been around boats for a pretty decent amount of time, just never took the time to learn a ton of technical information. I guess the cornering I am talking about at a decent speed isn't really "hard", just leaves a little to be desired. Trimming down helps a little bit until I hit that point again. I guess I will try to take it out again ASAP and try some more things out. It corners fine to the left anyway.

The motor also has a pretty large hydrofoil if that makes any difference...
