Hanging wire?

I was poking around on my recently acquired 1988 Sea Ray Seville with the 4.3L Merc and noticed this wire loose. Does anyone have any idea what it goes to? I see now that I should have removed the engine cover for a better pic.

If it is tan/blue then it is part of the engine alarm circuit.

Ayuh,... Sounds logical, there's an oil port just to the left of the picture, by the distributer...
