that's why I paid the extra $20... I can swap the pump in about 10 minutes, and harbor freigt is 3 miles from the office.

On a good day the compressor runs about 3 hours or so, so we'll see :)

I have a similar looking HF single cylinder compressor thats a year or two old now, still works perfect. It made it noticeably quieter when I drained out the "lifetime" ( ) oil and replaced it with Amsoil synthetic compressor oil. It doesn't live up to the CFM ratings, but I knew that before I bought it.

I wouldn't put too much hope in a HF warranty...

I buy HF stuff that I need but won't be using very often such as a roto-hammer @$60(works great), recip saw @$20(works great), paint gun @$20(works great). Now that said I have a HF 4" grinder that has taken a beating . its noisy but still going strong after 5 years and at under $20 how can you beat it. My last HF purchase was a compression tester for diesels @$27. I like HF tools for what they are but the quality is NOT there. I just use this stuff when no one is watching :D .

I bought a compressor from Harbor Frieght about fifteen years ago. It is stil pumping. It is a Campbell Hausefield. As with anything mechanical your mileage may vary. Personally, I think you threw the twenty away. The best warranty you can get is one you don't have to use. ;)

I bought 5 of those when they were on sale for $9.99. :D Originally it was just so that I have spares when they explode, but they just won't break! Now I have a seperate grinder for cutting, grinding, sanding, wire brushing, and still have a spare.

Good choice.
Ten years ago in my shop we had 1 gallon pancake compressor pump that was used for pressing.
Tank rusted out.

Replacement tank from "Grainger" $300.00
Complete pancake compressor with pump from HF $79.00

We just used the tank. And put the compressor in the back room for back up.

Sold the Business a few years later, stop in for coffee a couple weeks ago and the same tank is still in use. They still have the back up compressor "HF" in the back room.
