Re: Harbor freight hand oil pump..?

I bought a pump from HF and it only lasted a few oil changes. Seals always leaked then the pump stopped pumping. Bought the moeller pump and it is awesome! Dont even need to have the oil warm, it'll suck it out in under 5 minutes with our engines(5 quarts).

Update, his pump has failed after only a couple of uses. He has bought a Moeller now. HF pump

I've been changing oil for 40 years. Used every type of pump. Drill pumps work like crap, hand pumps are messy. Buy a $20 pump and you'll throw it away.

Moeller takes 30 seconds, works and collects the oil itself and works perfect. Been using one now on 4 boats for the past 3 years. A bargain at twice the price.

I have a 12v pump like this:

http://www.opentip.com/Sporting-Goods/Cesmith-Oil-Change-Pump-p-667913.html

I got it for about 30 bucks and have used it for 10+ years. It will suck the oil out in about 5 minutes.
I have (or should I say, had) that one. Almost made it through the fourth oil change before it crapped out. The "out" line always leaked, and it wouldnt pump unless it was primed first. And if an air bubble got into the "in" line, it stopped pumping.

If anyone wants it, its for sale for $1.63 plus shipping. :(

I agree with that!

I have a pan drain hose that I clamped the end up onto the port riser.

All I have to do is connect the Moeller, pump it about 15 times and move on to something else.

The vacuum produced by the pump sucks out all the oil in about 5-10 min or so (hot or cold)

I also use it on my auto transmissions and anything else that needs to be drained.

And it IS worth the shipping!! (although I got it from Boaters World....I didn't want to wait!!)

I have this one...

LOVE IT!
I bought the Moeller pump from Boaters World and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Cold or hot, 15 or so strokes on the pump and you just stand back and it happens.

I didn't like using the small plastic tube down the dipstick tube so I installed a drain tube in the pan. The vacuum pump sucks the oil thru that hose in about 1 min or less.

It's also very easy to pour from too......right into my waste oil furnace tank!
